DIVAS hosts 75 students from the Minnesota Transition Charter School at the Historic Coliseum

DIVAS for Social Justice introduced the students of the Minnesota Transition Charter School to their social justice model makerspace and brainstormed  a social action project of the future Democracy Center in South Minneapolis. The future Democracy Center will feature a youth workforce development center on the 1st floor. Youth from 5th, 6th, 8th and 9th grade shared their ideas for what they wanted to see in the community space. They learned computer aided design and cut out their designs with a Glowforge Laser Cutter. The project highlights the ideas of youth that include the importance of healing, resilience and joy.

DIVAS (Digital Interactive Visual Arts Sciences) encourages youth in underserved communities to use technology for social change. DIVAS has a social justice makerspace in the Historic Coliseum Building @ 2700 E Lake St.

Minnesota Transitions Charter School is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization whose core purpose is to empower each student and ensure that all students acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to experience success in their future.
