The message that is being presented that our neighborhood shouldn’t be “smart”. We should drink our lives away and drink anything that causes us harm. All they care about is the sale so they give us a good deal. – Leeza Campbell

The alcohol advertisements being presented to us say if you drink you’re cool and it makes you sexy. I think the ads are pressuring kids to drink, making them drop out, cut school, and to be violent. – Sarah Ashley

The ads are targeting people of color who are under age and low income. The message being presented is that people will purchase the product because it presents a popular lifestyle.- Anjanee Robinson

The message presented explains that ads are very intelligently placed. They watch the statistics to understand how to target markets. In East NY, there are cheap prices and cheap posters.-  Tsahay Douglas

The message being presented is that drinking alcohol is cool and it makes you sexy and since celebritie are using it, everyone should. In my opinion, these ads are ridiculous because under the influence of alcohol many people do ignorant things and teens tend to cut school and many become drop-out statistics which is very sad.- Naomi Oselmo.

The message being presented is giving us an impression that alcohol is something that will benefit us. These beverages do help to take our minds of everything but alcohol has a bad effect on our bodies. Kareem Powell

Youth from Arts East New York deconstruct the alcohol advertisings above.

Ardelle Stowe

Crazy Stallion

In the Crazy Stallion malt liquor says that the drink is cheaper and similar to Arizona Ice Tea. They use eye-catching visuals. It was placed at eye level on the bodega

Bud Ice

The ad is sexulaizing Bud Ice to make it look more appealing. They use the image of half dressed woman. It was placed at eye level. It’s obviously meant to attract men. They might feel that people of color are more gullible than those on the Upper East Side. They use more alluring photos hoping to attract more people and there is a school close by Hegeman Ave.

Corona

The ad is saying how easily the be accessed. Tehy use the image of a beach and it’s placed on eye level. I think that this ad might be put up more in the summer than any other time because they are claiming it’s refreshing. A 24 oz. bottle us $2.99 and a 32 oz. is only a dollar more.

Crazy Stallion

In the Crazy Stallion Ad the design catches your eye. The price of the drink is cheap that someone like a teenager could easily afford and the drink’s appearance is similar to Arizona Ice Tea, a non-alcoholic beverage popular among young adults. The child-like appearance gave the mesage that it is cool to drink.

Bud Ice

In the Bud Ice Ad the woman in the ad seems to be placed to attract men. The ads on the Lower East Side are very similar to the Bud Ice Ad. The ad seems to show that men in that area are more likely to pay attention to an ad with a woman on it.

Corona

The Corona Ads seem to be appealing to people with less money and show the beach. the beach background makes the drink look more refreshing.
